Ugly Screamer

Ryan came home one day from school.....I think it was still the first week of school.....and she was crying. I asked her what was wrong and she tells me that a girl in her class called her an "ugly screamer." With tears running down her face, I realized that I had no idea what to say. My first instinct was to say "Well she's Ugly for saying that to you!" or "Show me who she is.....I'll show her." Both would not go over well, I'm sure. Then I kind of laughed to myself because I can totally imagine the scream she did, that is.....ugly....or at least annoying. So my infinite wisdom and knowledge on 5 year olds....I said "there, there......let's get ice cream." I've just come to realize how protective and how CLUELESS I am and that I'm already teaching her to become an emotional eater. What will I do when it's something totally serious? Get ice cream, I guess.

Oh Edna!!! That is too funny... but I totally feel Ryan's pain. I still remember in kindergarten too girls telling me that I colored ugly and that my mom was stupid. I don't think i fully recovered... Lol! Just joking. I don't know what I'll say when Karidee comes home crying from school for something like this... I'm very blessed to have good friends to learn from before I get there! Hope all is well with you and your family! I miss you!

Hilarious! Well not that she was being made fun of, but your response! I am glad you get to figure this all out first too. However, I think I will have bigger issues. I have a feeling that Lauren will be the one calling the other kids "ugly___(fill in the blank)" Heaven help us!

Yes..ice cream makes it better. Orange-vanilla shakes make it even more better. (Is that even grammatically correct?)

Too funny! I am sorry about Ryan getting sad, that's not too fun--but ice cream always solves everything!

You're cracking me up! I was thinking the same thing tonight when Sam was crying and I was shoving a cupcake in his mouth. You are so funny!
